One of the largest family law practices in Baltimore, with referrals from law firms throughout the mid-Atlantic region, Tydings & Rosenberg provides sensitive counsel in all matters related to family law. We offer exceptional depth of experience in all phases of family law and work diligently to resolve family disputes involving complex marital property issues as well as child custody, visitation, and support matters.
Close personal attention
Given the nature of this field, both our accessibility to clients and our sense of personal accountability are vital components of the service we provide. We give clients the same close attention they might get from a smaller firm, but we also have experience in other areas, such as tax and real estate, that may be needed.
Evaluating marital property
We are particularly experienced in evaluating marital property, including professional practices, business interests, and retirement plans, and other forms of investments. Clients benefit from the firm’s resources in taxation, estate planning, real estate, pensions and other employee benefits, and bankruptcy.
Building a support network
We work closely with accountants, financial planners, real estate and insurance brokers, and therapists throughout the area to establish support networks for clients. We are especially aware of how divorce can affect children, and we draft agreements designed to protect their emotional and financial well-being.
Matrimonial law
We represent clients in divorce, custody, support, visitation, and other disputes and work with clients to negotiate and draft pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, separation agreements and actions for annulment and divorce, including:
- pre-divorce and post-divorce planning
- division of property
- alimony
- support and maintenance
- child custody and visitation matters
-
grandparent visitation
- post-divorce modification of alimony, child support, custody, and visitation
- custody issues related to relocation to other states and nations
- termination of parental rights
- appeals to Maryland’s appellate courts
Adoptions and Guardianships
Our attorneys also provide sophisticated representation to clients in arranging for domestic or foreign adoptions and for guardianships.
Mediation
Respected family law attorneys have used the mediation services offered by one of our attorneys in resolving impasses involving complex marital property issues, alimony, child support, and difficult and contentious child custody disputes.
Some of the matters the Family Law Practice Group has handled for its clients include:
- representing a client in one of the largest marital property cases on Maryland’s Eastern Shore (In this case, the firm argued successfully for the appointment of a receiver to control the opposing party’s assets – a very rare ruling in a divorce case in Maryland.)
- representing clients in international custody disputes involving the Hague Convention and other international treaties
- negotiating complex property settlement agreements for clients where the valuation and division of substantial assets, including businesses, partnerships, professional practices, investments, and retirement plans, are in dispute
- handling complex custody and visitation cases involving sophisticated issues of psychology, medicine, education, substance abuse, and learning and developmental disabilities
- representing clients in the negotiation and drafting of complex antenuptial agreements in cases where there are large and diverse assets acquired prior to marriage and where one or both parties require protection to avoid a repeat of a prior contentious and stressful divorce experience
- representing clients in successfully challenging antenuptial agreements that fail to meet the standard of a valid and enforceable antenuptial agreement
