Christopher J. Tully

Mr. Tully represents corporations in both healthcare matters and commercial litigation.  His experience includes medical malpractice defense, healthcare regulatory compliance, drafting and negotiating physician contracts, general civil litigation, commercial and business tort litigation, breach of contract suits, commercial landlord-tenant matters, and unemployment insurance defense.

Regarding his healthcare practice, Mr. Tully’s work for clients includes:

  • Defending nationally-ranked hospitals and local healthcare entities in medical malpractice suits and tort liability;
  • Defending hospitals and physicians regarding subpoenas for medical records, physician testimony, and HIPAA compliance;
  • Representing physicians and physician groups regarding employment and business contracts;
  • Providing regulatory advice to Maryland eldercare facilities regarding changes in ownership and new licensing, and working with state and federal regulatory entities on the same; and
  • Representing Maryland eldercare facilities in state and federal investigations.

In addition, Mr. Tully has successfully represented:

  • National and local corporations in premises liability, business torts, and contract disputes;
  • Commercial property owners and management companies in landlord-tenant matters; and
  • Maryland businesses in unemployment insurance appeals and audits.

Mr. Tully has served as lead and co-counsel in trials and other matters in the circuit courts for a number of Maryland counties, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the Superior Court for the District of Columbia, as well as the Office of Administrative Hearings.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Tully worked as a consultant in the group health insurance industry and provided benefits advice to corporations ranging from 50 to 5,000 employees.


Mr. Tully is an active member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Baltimore City Bar Association, and American Health Lawyers Association.  He is a frequent speaker on healthcare law related topics and has presented to senior healthcare organizations, such as the Health Facilities Association of Maryland (HFAM) and the LifeSpan Network. 

Mr. Tully has been recognized since 2014 by Maryland Super Lawyers magazine as a top-rated attorney in the areas of business litigation and malpractice defense.

In his free time, Mr. Tully is an advocate for pediatric cancer research and support.  He serves as vice president and general counsel for the Spencer Grace Foundation, Inc., and also is a board member of the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology Advisory Board.
